Max-Viz provides Enhanced Vision Systems (EVS) that penetrate fog, haze, smoke and the darkness of night, improving situational awareness - and therefore safety - for aircraft operators. The company's mission is to increase safety for all civilian and military aviation. EVS is an infrared-based system that detects differences in heat instead of light as a video camera would. Because it is not based on light, it works equally well in darkness, smoke, smog, haze and other visibility obscurants in the atmosphere. Max-Viz is unique in the industry in shipping uncooled-EVS systems: conventional systems are cryogenically cooled, and keep the detector very cold in order to notice small temperature differences. Max-Viz's patented systems use uncooled microbolometers, and thus are smaller, lighter and more reliable, with the same or better performance.
