WESTERN AIRCRAFT OFFERS EVS FOR EXISTING PILATUS PC-12's

Portland, Oregon (October 6, 2003) Western Aircraft of Boise, Idaho, is completing a Supplemental Type Certificate for retrofit installation of the Max-Viz EVS-1000 Enhanced Vision System on Pilatus PC-12 aircraft. Both turnkey installation services and installation kits will be available through Western.

"We have received a very favorable response from our PC-12 customers to add EVS as a safety feature to the aircraft," says Brian Rehberg, VP Aircraft Services at Western. "We had already done EVS installation work on business jets, and it seemed like a natural for the PC-12."

The Max-Viz uncooled long wave infrared-based EVS allows the pilot to "see" vehicles, equipment, obstacles and other aircraft on ramps, taxiways and runways in reduced visibility conditions including darkness, smoke, haze and smog. The system also detects and displays terrain features during low altitude maneuvering, approach and landing. This technology is gaining recognition in the industry as a useful element in the prevention of CFIT and the early detection of runway incursions.

"We have been working with Western on a variety of EVS projects and are pleased they will be adding the PC-12 to the growing list of Max-Viz EVS certifications," said Gregg Fawkes, Max-Viz president. "PC-12 pilots-both civil and government-frequently operate into remote locations where EVS can add a significant measure of protection. To provide an incentive for early adoption, Max-Viz is offering a 10% introductory rebate for PC-12 installations through Western."
