Jet Aviation Basel Installs Max-Viz Enhanced Vision System on Bombardier Challenger Aircraft
EBACE 2003, Geneva, Switzerland (May 7, 2003) Max-Viz, Inc. of Portland, OR, announced today that the company's EVS-1000 was ordered by Jet Aviation Basel for a customer's Bombardier Challenger business jet. The EVS-1000, recently FAA certified in the U.S. for this aircraft type, will be installed at Jet Aviation's facility in Basel, Switzerland.
"This order indicates significant growth of interest in EVS by the European business jet community" says Rainer Albecker, Vice President and General Manager of Jet Aviation Basel, "and demonstrates the industry's preference for the Max-Viz uncooled infrared technology." This constitutes "the first" European installation of an Enhanced Vision System.
The Max-Viz uncooled long wave infrared-based EVS allows the pilot to "see" ground vehicles, equipment, obstacles and other aircraft on ramps, taxiways and runways in degraded visibility conditions, including darkness, smoke, haze and smog. The system also detects and displays terrain features during low altitude maneuvering, approach and landing. This technology is gaining recognition in the industry as a key element in the prevention of CFIT and the early detection of runway incursions.
The tail-mounted EVS-1000 was FAA certified by Total Aircraft Services in Van Nuys, California, March 13th of this year and became the 1st EVS to be approved without the need for Head Up Display.
The Cessna Aircraft Company announced at the NBAA convention in September 2002 its selection of the Max-Viz EVS for the Citation X and Sovereign business jets. Max-Viz also recently received an order for the company's EVS-2500 from a VIP 767-200 operator.
Max-Viz Inc., a Portland, Oregon-based company was founded in early 2001 to design, develop and manufacture Enhanced Vision Systems which improve situational awareness and safety in the air and on the ground using state-of-the-art real-time infrared sensor technologies.
Jet Aviation Basel, founded in 1967, employs close to 1,000 people and provides maintenance, completions, refurbishment, exterior paint, avionics and engine shop services.
