EVS Certifications for Dassault Falcon Aircraft

May 6, 2003 Portland, OR
Dassault Aviation has advised Max-Viz, Inc. that its EVS-1000 Enhanced Vision System has received temporary certification on Falcon 900EX s/n 106 to evaluate the system until the end of December 2003.

This certification allows the EVS-1000 to be evaluated by various Dassault and customer pilots on this demonstrator aircraft to determine the effectiveness of this system in viewing terrain and obstacles in various atmospheric conditions, including darkness. The trial is expected to last until December 2003. The EVS images are displayed on both the Honeywell FMS 820 center pedestal CDU's and a separate display mounted on the co-pilot's side panel. The latter is capable of displaying EVS imagery through all phases of flight.

Max-Viz has also obtained orders and is securing FAA Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) on two other Falcon aircraft. A Falcon 50 operated by Mariner Air will be delivered with an EVS-1000 by July 2003, and a Falcon 900EX owned by Pistol Creek Financial will be delivered shortly thereafter. The interest level expressed by Falcon aircraft operators worldwide has been overwhelming and has reinforced our belief that EVS use should not be restricted to Head Up Display (HUD) presentation only. We are working to make EVS available for all aircraft and helicopter types says Jean Ménard, Director of Sales for Portland, Oregon-based Max-Viz Inc.

The EVS-1000 Enhanced Vision System consists of only two line replaceable units (LRU) weighing a total of 5.0 lbs. (2.26 kg). For Dassault aircraft the EVS-1000 Sensor and Power Supply are mounted in a specially modified tail fin enclosure by Max-Viz and provided as a completed assembly for simple installation on the aircraft.

Max-Viz Inc., a Portland, Oregon-based company was founded in early 2001 to design, develop and manufacture Enhanced Vision Systems which improve situational awareness and safety in the air and on the ground using state-of-the-art real-time infrared sensor technologies.
