Max-Viz and PAS, England Receive First Export Statement of Integration Approval from Department of Commerce

Max-Viz, Portland, Oregon 19 August, 2010, Max-Viz, Inc and Police Aviation Services (PAS) of England have received a Statement of Integration (SOI) export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce (DoC) allowing significantly quicker and more streamlined export of Max-Viz Enhanced Vision System technology abroad to civilian users through the PAS facility in Cheltenham, UK.

Max-Viz and PAS Receive First Statement of Integration

Bob Yerex, VP Sales for Max-Viz states, “Max-Viz can now ship to support PAS EVS programs for civil customers in over 36 export exempt countries almost immediately, compared to previous delays of between 2 and 6 months for individual program export applications.  This SOI allows Max-Viz to compete on a level playing field with comparable foreign suppliers with lead times from receipt of order to delivery responsiveness equivalent to current domestic programs.”

“We are working with most of our integration customer base to get them aligned under the same type of SOI certification to provide each of them with this same competitive advantage,” states Dylan Anderson, CFO at Max-Viz.

PAS is part of the Specialist Aviation Services Group and operates and maintains over 30 helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. “As an EASA approved design organisation active across Europe and the Eastern hemisphere, PAS is well placed to develop STCs and provide EVS kits for much of Max-Viz’s export market. We see great potential for the use of EVS as an enhancement to safety, not just within our own operations, but across a broader range of users and our design capability compliments the responsiveness provided by the grant of this export license,” added Nigel Lemon, Sales Director at PAS.

Max-Viz designs and markets the smallest, most reliable and affordable Enhanced Vision Systems for aircraft. The systems use real-time infrared sensors, signal processing, and a cockpit display to provide flight crews with actual images of terrain, runways, taxiways, aircraft and other potential obstacles much better than the naked eye during poor visibility conditions such as light fog, haze, smoke, brown / whiteout, light precipitation and darkness.

“Cooperatively, both One Sky and Max-Viz are putting safety ahead of profits in an attempt to further enhance the tremendous efforts of both the AACA and the Airmen’s Associations,” states Bob Yerex, VP Sales for Max-Viz. “The loss of Senator Ted Stevens, one of the most endeared statesmen and true Patriarch’s of Alaska history in a tragic aviation accident has spurred us into this cooperative concession.”

“Max-Viz has a significant investment in Alaska, having cooperatively teamed with Cary Foster of Anchorage based One Sky Aviation to develop and certify our infrared Enhanced Vision Systems (EVS) product line on both general and business aircraft and helicopters,” states Yerex. “Having spent nearly 10 years flying SAR here in Alaska, I have a defined personal investment which is continued through the Alaska Air Carriers Association and very cooperative relationship with the FAA in Anchorage.”

Cary Foster, owner of One Sky Aviation states, “We were provided the opportunity to develop these EVS STCs on platforms as varied as single engine Cessna’s through S-76 helicopters and transport category multi-engine turbine aircraft.  Having personally known and worked closely with Bob Yerex for over 25 years has clearly been an advantage with One Sky Aviation / Max-Viz cooperatively having received Certification for nearly 200 separate aircraft including the entire single engine Cessna product line (minus early rag-wings and the P-210) among many others.”

One Sky has completed international certifications to include Brazilian approval for the S-76 and is working on an EC-135 STC for a customer in Argentina. Foster was awarded the Mechanic of the Year this past spring for his colossal commitment and contribution to the safety of Alaska aviation through the tireless work on these STC installation certifications.
