The Installation Kit for the EVS-1500 on King Air aircraft includes all components (including IR sensor) and documentation required to install the Max-Viz Enhanced Vision System in King Air aircraft equipped with a video compatible Integrated Display System (IDS) or stand alone display monitor, and is available exclusively to all repair stations through Hawker Beechcraft Parts & Distribution (formerly known as RAPID).

The initial release of this STC applies to King Air Aircraft equipped with the Rockwell-Collins Proline-21, with software enabled for video display, and includes both the standard and Premier yolk upgrades.

Aftermarket retrofits to aircraft not factory equipped with the video enabled Proline-21, can be accomplished via revision, to include a certified video capable IDS such as the Garmin G1000 and Universal 890R or a standalone video-capable MFD. The list of available EVS compatible displays is growing rapidly.

The installation also includes a standard connection for Video Capable Electronic Flight Bags that accept and display an NTSC RS-170 analog video feed.

In addition to the above features, the installation also includes a video distribution amplifier installed on a center console mounted control panel, to enable distribution of the Infrared Image on up to four compatible passenger cabin entertainment displays.

The Max-Viz EVS-1500 is the only EVS product featuring pilot selectable optical wide angle and telephoto views and is the most popular EVS on the market. A field of view button is installed on both of the Premier yolks when available, and also on the pedestal mounted EVS control panel.

Elliott Troutman, president of Max-Viz, Inc. said, “Max-Viz is proud to join the Hawker Beechcraft family of approved vendors and to have been selected for installation by the manufacturer on the most famous line of cabin class turboprops in the world. Our system turns night into day to help pilots avoid runway incursions, inadvertent flight into IMC, nighttime VMC spatial disorientation and in general, enables pilots to see clearly and to fly even more safely.”

Hawker Beechcraft announced the availability of the Max-Viz EVS-1500 at Farnborough. That announcement can be seen at HBC KING AIR WITH EVS PRESS RELEASE

Max-Viz EVS Performance Exceeds Expectations on Wildfire Suppression Tests

Max-Viz, Portland, Oregon 19 July, 2010.  Max-Viz and One Sky Aviation completed a successful series of tests on the performance of the Max-Viz EVS-1500 dual optical field of view sensor on wildfires in central Alaska.

“This important testing was necessary to confirm performance expectations of the EVS-1500 sensor over its predecessor, the EVS-1000, specifically in a fire environment,” states Bob Yerex, VP Sales for Max-Viz. “Our STC development partner, Cary Foster from One Sky Aviation in Anchorage, has an EVS-1500 installed on his personal PA-30 aircraft and some exceptional digital recording equipment which allowed us to document the fire flight profile and then, after the flight, to analyze the video to validate system performance.”  Bob Yerex states, “the fiscal savings and performance improvements of EVS aided firefighting flight operations will dramatically change the safety and effectiveness of aircraft operating with the EVS-1500 system and fire management as a whole.”  The video associated with the flight test is available at the Max-Viz YouTube Channel.

Cary Foster of One Sky Aviation states, “We all expected the EVS-1500 with its enhanced dynamic range management and optimized software would provide an incredible image of not only the dynamic fire lines but also the surrounding ambient environment which could contain obstacles, higher trees, or mountainous terrain.”
